Objective of Behaviour based Safety Training Course

A Behaviour-Based Safety (BBS) training course focuses on improving workplace safety by promoting safe behaviours among employees. The course teaches workers to identify and understand the root causes of unsafe behaviours and to develop strategies for encouraging positive, safe actions. Key components include observation techniques, feedback mechanisms, and the use of behaviour modification principles to influence safety culture. Workers learn to conduct safety observations, provide constructive feedback, and implement reinforcement techniques to promote safe practices.

Behaviour based Safety Course Module

UNSAFE ACTS & UNSAFE CONDITIONS

TIME DURATION 25 MINUTES 45 SECONDS

Unsafe acts encompass behaviors by individuals that disregard established safety protocols and increase the risk of accidents. These can range from not following safety guidelines to failing to wear appropriate protective gear. On the other hand, unsafe conditions refer to hazardous workplace factors like faulty equipment, poor housekeeping or environmental dangers. To implement safety training, audits and safety culture initiatives to address unsafe acts and unsafe conditions and reduce the risk of workplace accidents and injuries.

BEHAVIOUR BASED SAFETY

TIME DURATION 50 MINUTES 22 SECONDS

As we know, safety is a choice. Let’s explore that idea a little further. Safety is a series of choices made by workers each day, choices involving behaviors in the workplace. It’s in how you train, what precautions you take when performing tasks, and your level of awareness of external factors that may jeopardize your well-being. Three factors influence personal safety choices: the ability to recognize hazards and evaluate risk, the motivation to be safe, and the ability to focus while performing the current task safely.

LEADING AND LAGGING INDICATORS

TIME DURATION 22 MINUTES 2 SECONDS

In any organization, effective occupational safety and health (OSH) management requires appropriate and reliable OSH performance measurement. The tools used for the measurement of the performance are indicators. An indicator is a measurable representation of the aspect of reality. Safety indicators can be used to monitor the level of safety in any organization to provide the necessary information for decision-makers about where and how to act. An organization needs to identify, establish and implement the right safety measures.

SAFETY TRAINING OBSERVATION PROGRAM

TIME DURATION 14 MINUTES 57 SECONDS

The Safety Training Observation Program (STOP) program in Environment, Health and Safety is a behavioral-based safety program designed to prevent injuries and occupational illnesses in the workplace. “STOP” in the STOP program means – Safety Training Observation Program. This program involves training, observation, corrections and STOP work authority. This program is solely based on observation since other actions to be taken will be determined by the observations made.

SAFETY CULTURE

TIME DURATION 28 MINUTES 8 SECONDS

The safety culture of an organisation is the product of individual and group values, attitudes, perceptions, competencies, and patterns of behaviour that determine the commitment to, and the style and proficiency of, an organisation’s health and safety management. Organisations with a positive safety culture are characterized by communications founded on mutual trust, by shared perceptions of the importance of safety and by confidence in the efficacy of preventive measures.

SAFETY MEETINGS AND COMMITTEE

TIME DURATION 23 MINUTES 26 SECONDS

Safety and health should be more effectively incorporated into an organizations overall management system along with other management objectives such as production and quality control. If the standards of safety and health at the workplace are to be improved, full cooperation and commitment of all employees are essential.
